Passed small blood clot

I am 6 weeks pg and a week ago had 24hrs of very minimal bleeding that followed with a very small bean shaped clot. My bleeding then just stoped! Has anyone experienced this? I am in the process of blood tests etc and are due for US in a few days but this dosn't seem to fit the average miscarriage story. No bad pains, No gushes of blood - just 1 little clot that may well of been the product of conception. Maybe a twin??? Any comments would be appreciated :/

Kyles,

I too had a couple bleeding episodes during my pregnancy at about 6 weeks. The first one happened the day after intercourse, so I was put on bedrest, and the next one happened about 3 weeks later which included clots, with this bleed I was told it was probably the ovarian cyst I had must have ruptured causing me to bleed. I went to the hospital each time and was told that this type of bleeding is normal as long as I was not cramping. After those two episodes I had no further bleeding during my pregnancy, but it sure was scary.

I wish I could be more help to you. I hope everything goes good at your next ultrasound, keep us posted!

Thanks Trista

Any similar story with a positive outcome does seem to make a HUGE difference. I know I wont really know until I get my results and have an US but I need a little hope even though I have also prepared myself for the worst. Did you know you had an ovarian cyst prior to these bleeds/clots?

Kyles,

What a GORGEOUS baby!!!

Try not to worry, I have read and been told that early bleeding is normal.
I found out I had a cyst on my right ovary when they did the first ultrasound at 5 weeks, then after the one bleed it had disapeared so the doctor said it probably ruptured and made me pass some clots and blood.
Have you had any ultrasounds yet?

Hey Trista

I am due for my first ultrasound in 2 days and I will probably be just 6 weeks on that day so I am praying to see all there is meant to be and hopefully a heart-beat. I also do my last HCG blood test on that day and the next day will discuss all results with my doctor. So in 3 days I should know what is happening. Thanks heaps for sharing your story it makes me feel alot more hopeful although I am preparing myself emotionally just in case. The photo is of my beautiful daughter Zoe, she was 5 weeks at the time and is now 15 months old - Hopefully she will have a little bro or sis mid next year :)

kyles,
I never passed a clot, but I did bleed for several months in my first pregnancy. First I had a very light period when AF was due. Then about 6 weeks into my pg I had bright red bleeding. Repeat betas showed the pregnancy was progressing. The ultrasound showed a heartbeat and large bleed sac over the fetus that eventually moved its way beside, under then out on subsequent ultrasounds over the few months. I never had any pain. I never had any more bleeding or complications after the first trimester.

I hope that everything works out. I know how scary this can be.

Zoe is beautiful, but then I'm sure you know that already.

Thanks marsha

The clot is definatly my biggest concern especially that it was a neat little bean probably the size of a 5 week sac. I suppose the fact my light bleed was bright red aswell. Maybe it too was a bleed sac that passed??? It is soo worrying when miscarriage is generalised as red blood, clots, cramping - when all these can be from totally different causes. Fingers crossed and thanks for your post marsha - Yes Zoe is beaufiful and dont we appreciate them all that bit more when we realise how fragile life can be :)- Your little man is a stunner too

Hi how are you doing?

hi its kyles

Well and I had my abdominal US today and I suppose it was reasuring in the fact that there is still the sac and yolk where it should be and everything looks fine..........EXCEPT no heart-beat was seen! I calculate I am 6 weeks today and the baby measures 6 weeks so that is a good thing and apparently only 50% of heart-beats can be seen at 6 weeks! Well the waiting game continues until my next US. Fing out my HCG levels tomorrow that may shed some light but until I see that little heart-beat the concern will continue..........eeeeeeeee

I have heard quite a few stories of women pregnant with twins but one doesnt make it and you have some slight bleeding and even clotting but still keep the other baby.

I had the same thing with my last pregnancy at 6 weeks they saw baby and heartbeat at 7 week ultrasound

Hope this helps

at 5 1/2 weeks saw no heart beat, at 7 weeks definitely yes. A week can make a huge difference.... good luck

I was pregnant with twins, m/c one at about 8-10 weeks. (Couldn't pin point last period because of BC pills)
I had mild cramps and some pretty serious clots, but it was over pretty fast.

My subsequent m/c's were always preceeded by horrible cramps. (I mean I was doubled over and throwing up.)

I wouldn't worry about the bleeding. If your doc isn't worried, you shouldn't be. (Easier said than done, I know.)
Lots of women bleed very early on.
Cheer up!
